Moisture really spiked overnight to give us steady rain in Albuquerque. The cold front continues to stall in Colorado. Snow showers will start closer to 9:00 a.m. in Raton.
Those are the weather headlines as of early Sunday morning. However, this moisture will crash into the front giving snow or rain showers extra juice. Thunderstorms continue to look promising, especially in the high terrain south of the front.
Eventually, the cold front will reach Albuquerque by 4:00 p.m. Sunday where canyon winds will spike.
Showers look likely in the metro area by the morning but the question is: will it be cold enough? We should see some mixed precipitation and in the Sandia foothills, snow. Avoid travel between Las Vegas and Raton tonight and tomorrow morning.
A cutoff low sets-up to keep the cold air from leaving New Mexico. This will also boost showers on Tuesday. Temperatures will be cold enough for mixed precipitation or snow yet again. Accumulations will melt instantly as soon as the sun comes.
