Snow chances will continue favoring southern NM through the day Wednesday with additional accumulation likely in the NM Bootheel (2″-4″). Elsewhere, cloudy skies and flurries will gradually give way to more sunshine. The ABQ and Santa Fe metro areas have potential to see a few light snow showers, however, accumulation is not likely. The biggest sore spot on Wednesday will be snow-packed and dicey road conditions due to accumulating snow earlier in the week — be sure to factor in extra travel time.
With our winter storm departing and high-pressure building over the area in its place, more sunshine is expected across the state Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will be slow to recover… but a gradual warming trend will get underway late week through the weekend.
Our next big weather maker looks to arrive late Saturday into Sunday bringing a mix of rain and snow. (NOTE: This storm is tapping into some subtropical moisture — relatively warmer — so it is not expected to be a repeat of the back-to-back storms we had to finish December / start January.)
