Happy first (official) day of summer!

Afternoon highs will scream “summer” Thursday afternoon with highs well into the 80s, 90s and low 100s. Sunshine & dry conditions can be expected in most areas — the exception: parts of northeast and east-central NM. A front brining in just enough moisture will keep storm chances in the forecast for another day, similar to what we had unfold Wednesday. Spotty storms will likely develop over the high country before pushing east into the Northeast Plains. There is potential for storms to be strong to severe — keep an eye out for hail and damaging winds.

Hot temperatures will be the big story Friday as triple digits temps will be common within central and southern NM. Friday’s forecast high of 100° will likely be ABQ’s first day of triple digits heat in 2018.
