Kristen’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Weather Video Forecast

THURSDAY: Our next weather maker will come in the form of a cold front moving in from the east. Temperatures will drop 10-15° behind this front in eastern NM… while those within central and western NM remain mild in the 60s and 70s. Breezy conditions will also accompany this front as it crosses the state, however, winds will lighten up through the day. There’s not a whole lot of moisture to work with in this set-up so rain chances will be spotty at best for those within northern and eastern NM.

FRIDAY: A wind shift out of the southeast will allow moisture from the Gulf to be pulled into eastern NM. This moisture combined with instability will allow spotty to scattered storms to develop near the TX/NM stateline. There is potential for storms to be strong to severe — be sure to stay up-to-date with us Friday afternoon/evening.

WEEKEND: Afternoon temperatures will continue to climb with most locales well into the 70s, 80s and 90s. Gulf moisture and instability will continue to allow storm potential to linger in eastern NM. Once again, strong to severe storms will be possible near the stateline. Those in western and central NM will see a sky full of sunshine and warm temps.
