Kristen’s Friday Morning Forecast

Weather Video Forecast

A mostly quiet day to finish the work week with Friday featuring sunshine, dry conditions and slightly warmer temps. Afternoon highs will climb close to average in the Eastern Plains (50s and 60s)… but still fall a few degrees short of normal across western and central NM (30s and 40s).

Saturday will be a transition day for us as we await our next storm. Expect temperatures to continue warming (more 40s, 50s and 60s / fewer 30s) with increasing clouds west to east. Showers will begin to develop late Saturday into Sunday, starting near the western stateline before pushing further into the state overnight into Sunday.

Sunday will be an active day of low elevation rain and snow and high elevation accumulating snow (+7000ft). Favorable areas of +6″ of accumulating snow look to be along the west and southwest facing slopes of the northern high terrain. This storm is relatively warmer and moving faster than what we’ve seen with recent storms… so impacts will not be as significant nor widespread. Eastern NM will get the short end of the stick with this set-up as increasing clouds will be seen… but not a whole lot in the way of widespread rain. Clouds and wind look to be the story further east as we finish the weekend.
