Drier air continues to invade the state with a southwesterly flow in place. That southwesterly flow will help pull some smoke into Albuquerque this afternoon as the Buzzard Fire nears 5,000 acres in the northern Gila. Meanwhile, moisture will be limited to the east again this afternoon. The threat for severe weather will focus across the southeast.
The drier air takes over for Friday and the weekend. Expect plenty of sunshine over the holiday weekend, with the one exception being a few more clouds Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will be on the hot side with highs reaching the low 90s in Albuquerque and soaring to the triple digits across the southeast.
