It’s going to be another hot afternoon across New Mexico as drier air takes hold of the state. Expect a quieter afternoon across the east with few if any showers and storms. Temperatures will continue to inch up as a southwest flow continues through Friday.
A storm system passing to the north will drop in a back door cold front for the east on Saturday. This will lead to more wind and cooler temperatures for the east. As moisture starts to fill in behind the front on Sunday, showers and storms will become more numerous across the state, with severe storms possible central and east. The state dries back out early next week as temperatures soar once again.
