Today will be the warmest day of the week. A few places in downtown Albuquerque could hit 70 degrees. Farther south on the Rio Grande Valley, places will easily hit 70 degrees. Tonight, a cold front edges close to northeast New Mexico. Overnight lows will be generally in the 40s along the I-40 corridor.
The backdoor cold front will expand over the eastern plains through Thursday. Cloud cover and light precipitation will gradually increase in these areas. Temperatures will be drastically cooler than the west and I-25 corridor because of the extra cloud cover. A Pacific cold front sweeps through the state Thursday. This will lead to cooler temperatures, but any precipitation will remain exclusively in the eastern third of New Mexico. This weekend will bring very dry air. Mornings in Albuquerque will start feeling crisp on Friday with temperatures around 32 degrees.
