A large plume of moisture over New Mexico will finally turn into rain tonight. Spot showers will become more frequent into Monday morning. The low pressure inching towards Arizona will spit out lobes of energy driving scattered precipitation across central New Mexico. After some daytime heating, some of these thunderstorms could become strong. The low will be right on top of New Mexico on Tuesday. This scenario is more favorable for severe weather.
Wednesday brings strong winds over the state and colder air. It’ll be interesting to see how cold it gets in the morning. Right now, it looks like Albuquerque could get a quick shot of mixed precipitation for the commute. By this point, the northern mountains have picked up some of the biggest snowfall of the season. The Gila will also get accumulating snow. Thursday finally brings back the sun and high temperatures will be about 20 degrees below average. Next weekend looks picture perfect.
