An approaching low pressure system in Arizona will give New Mexico numerous showers and thunderstorms tonight. Relatively unstable air will help produce hail with many of these thunderstorms. Most areas will receive rain by 8 pm tonight. Thunderstorms will be possible after midnight in the eastern plains with a similar threat of hail.
Showers will be slow to push out of the northern mountains tomorrow morning, while the lowlands clear up quickly. The wind will be persistent out of the west this week bringing dry air to the Rio Grande Valley. Friday advances a backdoor cold front through the eastern plains. This will be our next chance at regional precipitation.
