Winds will come back with a vengeance this week. The breeze will kick back up in Albuquerque Tuesday afternoon. Critical fire weather thresholds will be met on Thursday and Friday throughout the state with 50 mph gusts and single digit relative humidity values. Temperatures will be warmer through Thursday, especially in southeast New Mexico contributing to fire weather concerns.
Moisture will find its way into New Mexico Tuesday and Wednesday as today’s high pressure glides into Texas. Thunderstorms that develop on Tuesday will be weak and isolated. There’s a chance of an evening storm in Albuquerque but much more likely in the Sacramentos or Sangre de Cristos. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday near the Texas border. Models are still having a tough time with the weekend storm. It’s looking like the northern mountains will get at least a few inches of snow. Temperatures will be significantly cooler this weekend.
