TODAY: The first day of Spring will not feel like Spring for eastern New Mexico. A backdoor cold front has moved into central New Mexico, which will keep temperatures in the 50s. Temperatures across central and western New Mexico will top out in the 60s. A few morning rain & snow showers are possible for northeastern parts of the state. Freezing fog is also a possibility along I-25 from Las Vegas north to Raton and along I-40 near Clines Corner. Once western parts of the state see some daytime heating, a few afternoon thunderstorms are possible. 

The Metro should remain dry until tonight with a high in the low 60s. 

THURSDAY & FRIDAY: This period will be active for the state as a storm moves across New Mexico. Showers and thunderstorms are possible for most of New Mexico with snow levels in the northern mountains around 9000ft on Thursday but dropping to 7500ft late in the day on Thursday. 4-8″ are possible above 7500ft. On Friday, the west will see cooler and drier conditions but moisture will hang around east of I-40. A few strong thunderstorms are possible across the southeast Friday afternoon.
