January 2nd 2019 – Snow chances will continue favoring southern NM through the afternoon into the overnight hours with additional accumulation likely in the NM Bootheel (2″-4″). Elsewhere, cloudy skies and flurries will gradually give way to more sunshine. The ABQ and Santa Fe metro areas have potential to see a few light snow showers late this afternoon, however, accumulations are not likely. Roads will remain icy through tomorrow morning, and it is possible freezing fog may develop overnight once skies clear and the winds decrease.
The winter storm will depart the state early tomorrow morning and high-pressure build in, which will allow abundant sunshine into late week. However, temperatures will be slow to recover.
Our next big weather maker looks to arrive late Saturday into Sunday bringing a mix of rain and snow. This storm should be warmer than this current storm, thus, limiting impacts.
