TODAY: Temps will warm quickly in the 70s and 80s for most of the state. This is well above average for this time of the year. The metro will flirt with 80 by this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and light winds will dominate the forecast for the day.
TUESDAY: Even warmer temps are in the forecast with widespread 80s and 90s. Much of New Mexico will flirt with record highs (a few areas across the SE will get into the mid-90s). The winds will begin to increase throughout the day as a cold front approaches from the west. A few rain & snow showers are possible overnight on Tuesday across southern Colorado but New Mexico should remain dry. Fire danger looks to be high due to the warm temps, breezy conditions and low relative humidity levels.
WEDNESDAY: The cold front will push through all of New Mexico throughout the day. Temps will fall 15 to 20 degrees. The winds will make it feel even colder outside. Widespread 30-60 mph winds are in the forecast. Strongest gusts (in excess of 65 mph) are possible across the eastern plains.
