FRIDAY AFTERNOON: The weekend storm is already approaching from the west, which has allowed scattered rain & snow showers to develop across western and central New Mexico. The snow will pickup in intensity this evening in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The increase in cloud cover and precipitation today will keep afternoon highs cool in the 40s, 50s, and 60s statewide. The metro will see temps in the mid-50s. There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect Friday evening through Saturday evening for the Sangre de Cristo Mountains — accumulations: 6″ – 12″ above 9500ft.  

SATURDAY & SUNDAY: As the storm crosses NM, showers will follow. Precipitation will favor central and eastern NM as the storm depends over Texas–wrapping in moisture and cold air. Heavy snow is likely Saturday morning for the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Afternoon highs will be a touch cooler in most areas in the 40s & 50s. Sunday begins a warming trend. Temps will top out in the 60s & 70s with sun.
