Albuquerque sees first measurable rain in 54 days

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the central Rio Grande Valley area Monday afternoon, including Albuquerque. 

Storms are expected to produce gusty winds, heavy rain and hail across the area Monday afternoon. The storm is advancing to the north at about 25 mph.

This marks the first measurable rainfall in Albuquerque in 54 days.

There is another severe thunderstorm just outside of Raton, with other storms forming behind it heading toward the I-25 corridor. 

A severe thunderstorm watch area includes Socorro County, into areas of south central New Mexico up into Rio Arriba and Taos counties. 

Hail, gusty winds and heavy rain are anticipated.
