Kristen’s Friday Morning Forecast

We’ll finish off the work week with breezy to windy conditions… but the good news is winds will generally be lighter than what was felt on Thursday. Strongest winds (gusting to 50mph) will be found along and east of the Central Mountains.

Spotty to scattered showers and thunderstorms will favor northern and eastern NM on Friday. There is potential for storms to turn severe near the eastern stateline — threats: large hail and damaging winds. Mountain snow showers will favor northern NM with accumulation likely above 9000ft. Central NM (including the ABQ-metro) has a shot at a few spot showers but coverage will be limited.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect until 4PM Friday for the San Juan Mountains and Sangre de Cristo Mountains (+9500ft) for accumulating snowfall: 2″-4″ above 8500ft / +6″ local higher terrain.

Afternoon  highs will be coolest on Friday before rebounding over the weekend. Outside of a few showers over the Northeast Plains Saturday morning, more sunshine and drier conditions can be expected through the start of the next work week.
