Kristen’s Friday Morning Forecast

Another hot afternoon with Friday’s highs topping out well above seasonal averages — expect widespread 80s, 90s and low 100s by late day. Strengthening southwest flow higher up in the atmosphere will mix down to the surface creating windy conditions across NM. Expect sustained winds to range between 20-30mph / gusting 40-55mph. Strong winds in combination with dry conditions, persistent drought and an unstable atmosphere will result in critical fire danger for all of New Mexico.

High temperautres will come down a few degrees between Friday and Saturday, although, still remain very warm for this time of year. Breezy to windy conditions will continue for the start of the weekend with another round of fire danger alerts likely.

Mother’s Day will feature temps in the mid-80s in the ABQ-metro under a mostly sunny sky. Once again, winds will be noticeable with breezy winds 15-25mph.
