A back door cold front is working into the northeast this afternoon. This will help touch off a few rain and snow showers along the east facing slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains this evening and tonight. As the front works into the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metro areas this evening, a canyon wind will develop. Expect gusts up to 55 mph. Wind advisories are in place for these areas until 3am.
Wednesday will feature cooler temperatures for central and eastern New Mexico, but afternoon highs will quickly rebound Thursday for most of the state. Another back door cold front will give the northeast another shot at a few showers Thursday and cool down east and central on Friday.
Some moisture will get pulled into the state Friday and Saturday, allowing for better chances at a few widely scattered showers, especially Saturday. Drier air works back into the state from the west on Sunday.
