It may be a new week, but the heat will continue across New Mexico. A large ridge of high pressure will keep moisture out of the state through most of the week, while afternoon highs soar to near record highs. Albuquerque will be in the upper 90s to near 100° all week long. The heat wave across the south and east continues with highs well above 100°. Roswell has yet to see a day not reach 100° so far this month.
A back door cold front will nudge into the northeast late this week. This will help fire off a storm or two there Thursday and Friday, but the rest of the state will stay hot and dry through the weekend. The good news is that the long range models have the monsoon finally setting up across the western half of the state early next week. This will help pull the temperatures down and increase our chances at showers and storms.
