Colder temperatures, rain and snow will be moving in overnight tonight. The best shot for rain overnight will be across western New Mexico. A cold front will also be ushering in sharply cooler temperatures for tomorrow.
Once that cold air moves in the rain will change over to snow especially across the higher terrain. Albuquerque’s biggest impact will be the canyon wind. This wind will start to pick up after midnight and it will last into the early afternoon. Wind gusts near the canyon could reach 40-50 mph. This easterly canyon wind will limit Albuquerque’s chances at rain and snow.
Accumulations for snow will generally range from 1-4″ with some isolated higher snowfall totals in the western high terrain.
Temperatures tomorrow afternoon will be 20°-30° colder. So it will be back for winter for at least a day to close out the weekend. Drier air and warmer temperatures then quickly return for the start of the school and work week.
