Showers and storms will be on the increase across eastern New Mexico today.
A storm system continues to spin around the Four Corners and it is producing the showers across the higher terrain this afternoon across northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.
There’s a chance strong to severe storms with high winds and large hail could develop across the New Mexico and Texas state line today. Places like Tucumcari, Santa Rosa, Clovis, Portales and Hobbs will see the best shot at the severe storms if they develop.
Winds and Fire Danger will still be an issue across east central and southern sections of the state. Wind gusts could approach 45 mph or greater in these areas this afternoon and evening.
The storm system moves out for tomorrow and Sunday. Behind the storm system, less wind, more sunshine and warming temperatures. Temperatures will warm back into the 60s, 70s and 80s over the weekend.
A weak weather disturbance will graze southern New Mexico on Sunday. This weather maker will produce clouds over the state for Sunday afternoon. This will make for filtered sunshine (milky looking skies) for the second half of the weekend.
Temperatures will continue their warming trend into Monday and Tuesday before another storm system could impact the state by mid-week.
