PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a bad day for milk trucks traveling through New Mexico.

Video shows the aftermath of a collision between the train and a milk truck along Highway 70 between Portales and Clovis on Thursday. The crash led to three trains and nine cars derailed.

According to New Mexico State Police, the 50-year-old driver was trying to beat the train across the tracks. But the truck, which was loaded with milk, was too slow to make it.

The truck and the trailer were totaled, and the driver was treated for minor injuries. So far, the driver is not facing charges. State Police say they’re still investigating.

The Eastern New Mexico News reports, another milk truck turned over in Clovis Thursday morning at the north end of the Prince Street Overpass, spilling its contents into the busy intersection below. Officers say no one was seriously injured.
