Spring Sports Championship Roundup for Friday

The La Cueva Bears will get a chance to defend their 2017 state championship title. The Bears outlasted Carlsbad 9-3 in the Class 6A semi finals Friday to advance to the championship game. They will meet the Piedra Vista Panthers at 6 p.m. at Isotopes Park, Saturday to determine the 2018 champion.

The Panthers earned their spot in the final by defeating Rio Rancho 8-2 Friday. The Mora Rangers hoisted their first ever baseball championship after getting past Mesilla Valley 12-2 in the A-2A championship game.

In girls softball the Silver Colts won an eighth consecutive title by defeating Bernalillo for the Class 4A crown 13-1. Dexter also made it multiple championships with a fourth. They defeated Loving 4-2 in the A-3A Softball Championship.
