NMSU hammers Lobos in Rio Grande baseball rivalry


Lobo bats were silent while the NMSU Aggies were smashing out 15 hits. The result is a 9-1 drubbing of the Lobos at Santa Ana Star Field Tuesday night.

Lobos pitcher James Harrington was chased after only two innings. He gave up 9 hits and 8 earned runs in that span while striking out only two batters. Harrington dropped to 0-2 on the season. Aggies pitcher Justin Dehn had a game that went the opposite way.

He went five shutout innings and only gave up two hits while striking out a pair of batters. Tristan Carranza and Logan Ehnes led the Aggies at the plate. Both players drove in a pair of runs each. The Aggies improved to 20-13 with the win.

The Lobos dropped to 12-18 and have lost six straight games. The Lobos return to Mountain West play Friday when they start a three game series on the road at Nevada. The Lobos are 6-9 in conference. The Aggies are 6-3 in the WAC and start a three game home series against conference foe Chicago State Friday.
