Mozone leads USC Upstate past Charleston Southern 66-52

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP)Bryson Mozone had 14 points and 14 rebounds to lift South Carolina Upstate to a 66-52 win over Charleston Southern on Monday night.

Mozone hit 4 of 6 3-pointers to help USC Upstate get its second victory in the 10-game series.

Nevin Zink had 13 points and 11 rebounds for USC Upstate (11-15, 6-7 Big South Conference). Everette Hammond added 13 points, nine assists and six rebounds, and Dalvin White had 13 points. Tommy Bruner, the Spartans’ second leading scorer heading into the contest at 14 points per game, was held to four points on 2-of-11 shooting.

Phlandrous Fleming Jr. had 21 points and seven rebounds for the Buccaneers (12-13, 6-7). Deontaye Buskey added 12 points, and Ty Jones had 11 points.

Both teams face High Point in their next game. Charleston Southern heads home to host the Panthers on Thursday, while USC Upstate will be on the road for its matchup against High Point on Saturday.
