The two day US Amateur Qualifying tournament wrapped up on Tuesday at The UNM Championship Golf Course. Greg Yellin of El Paso came in as the leader at -6, and after shooting a 2 under second round Yellin would win the Amateue at -8 overall.

“To even think about playing at pebble beach in the us amateur wouldn’t even really crossed my mind. So, to be able to do that is going to be awesome”, said Greg Yellin. Yellin does now move on to the US Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach next month, but also moving on will be Albuquerque’s own Patrick McCarthy.

“I didn’t even think that i would be anywhere close coming in on that back 9. I just kind of played consistent golf, i was relaxed the entire round, which was awesome, and yeah i am very humbled and very excited to move on and i am really looking forward to it”, said Pat McCarthy.

McCarthy shot -4 for the tournament and this marks his 2nd straight tournament victory as he also just won the City Championship.
