The Lobo Football Teams season opener is now in the very near future. The team has yet to announce their starting QB, but Head Coach Bob Davie did say on Saturday that the starter would be announced soon. It has been a battle for the starting gig since spring for Sophomore Tevaka Tuioti and Senior Coltin Gerhart.
Both QB’s have the skills to be starters, but now its time for the coaches to look back at film and see which man was more efficient during practice with this new offensive scheme.
Coach Davie did say that he does want to have a definite starter.
“I really don’t want a rotation at QB, though I do want to name a starter and that’s what we are going to do. But its tough its a close call. You know, whoever gets it needs to know that they have the job and there is not someone warming up in the bullpen every time they go out there. So, when we name a starter that’s the direction we are going to go and they will be the starter”, said UNM Head Football Coach Bob Davie.
The Lobos will open their season at home on September 1, as they host Incarnate Word at 6 p.m.
