Lobo Football didn’t have the best performance on Saturday in Logan, Utah. UNM falls to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in MWC play after losing to Utah State 61-19. UNM would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st qtr after a 53-yard field goal from Andrew Shelley, which marks the longest field goal in program history made by a freshman, but from there the Aggies would take a lead and not look back.
Utah State racked up 704 total yards of offense, which trumped UNM’s 291 yards of total offense. Sheriron Jones would finish 10-25 in passing with 110 yards, but he also picked up 3 INT’s with one going 100 yards for a touchdown. Coltin Gerhart would come off the bench for the first time since week one, and he would look good in his time, as he led the Lobos to their first touchdown of the game in the 3rd qtr.
UNM now heads home to take on another tough opponent on Saturday. UNM will play San Diego State at 8:30 pm and it will also be shown on ESPNU.
