Sports Desk: Dana White helps UFC fighter’s daughter sell thousands of cookies

In this edition of the Sports Desk: Van Tate has an update from the Isotopes and Lobo Baseball. Jared Chester also joins the Sports Desk to tell a story about Michelle Waterson’s daughter, Araya.

Waterson is a locally trained MMA fighter that trains in the UFC, and her daughter is a stand out Girl Scout who has sold thousands of cookies. Araya has sold over 3,000 boxes, and that couldn’t have been possible without her pitch to UFC President Dana White.

“Hey, Mr. White I know you are a tough cookie because you are the boss of the UFC. I am a tough cookie too because I am the boss of Girl Scouts. So, from one boss to another, please help me reach my goal of selling 2,000 boxes of cookies,” said Araya Gomez, Michelle Waterson’s daughter.

Van also highlights a Lobo Football player whose year ended in the first game of this past season. Q’ Drennan dislocated his hip and has since had surgery. The now-senior is heading into his final season and he is participating in spring workouts.

“You know, that made me want to play even more. So uh…losing football made me want football even more,” said Q’ Drennan.
