The New Mexico State University Football Team secured a postseason deal with The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl on Wednesday. The two-year agreement places the Aggies as the first option for the bowl game, and comes in the team’s first season as an independent.
The Aggies will have to be postseason eligible to make it to this bowl game, and only if the Sun Belt and Mountain West Conferences can’t fulfill their obligations to the bowl game.
“As an independent to be lined up to the best of our ability with a bowl game is huge, and I think it’s great for recruiting, I think it’s great for the townspeople. Last year we brought 25,000 Aggies to Tucson, Arizona. It was one of the best attended group of five games, and people are still talking about it in the bowl industry,” said NMSU Athletic Director Mario Moccia.
The Aggies will open their season on Aug. 25 against Wyoming at Aggie Memorial Stadium. That game will be shown on ESPN 2.
