New Mexico Highlands is eliminated in D2 NCAA Tournament

The season is over for Craig Snow and his New Mexico Highlands men’s basketball team. The Cowboys started slow and could not recover in a 109-95 loss to West Texas A&M in Division II NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.

Raquan Mitchell had the best night of his Cowboys career with 42 points. Mitchell also had a stretch where he hit back to back to back three point shots. Four other Cowboys finished in double figures with Mitchell. Desmond Carpenter scored 16 points.

Gerad Davis contributed 14 points in the loss while Adrian Lafleur had 11. Nnamdi Okoro finished the game with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Cowboys season ended with a few accomplishments on their resume. The team finished with the most wins in program history with 22. The Cowboys also won the RMAC Tournament championship for the first time in program history.
