Albuquerque’s own, Mariah Duran, competed in this years X Games in Minneapolis. The 21-year-old Skateboarder would have a memorable day, as she walked away with an X Games Gold in the Women’s Street Competition.
“Oh man, it feels so good man. I worked so hard but you know, I am not taking anything for granted. Thank you guys so much, I want to thank my family for coming out, I want to thank all you guys. I appreciate it and I am going to keep skating”, said Mariah Duran.
Duran stomped out a solid 2nd run and garnered a score of 87.66. That score would place her in 1st at the time, and well it would hold, as she takes home her first ever X Games Gold Medal. Mariah did take home a silver back in 2016, but what a day and what a win for a young local skater with a bright future in the sport.
