Dane Kuiper made sure his senior night was going to end in victory. Kuiper got the biggest steal of his Lobo career with only two seconds left in the game to preserve a one point 73-72 win over Boise State. Kuiper finished with six points in the win.
Senior and Lobos’ leading scorer Anthony Mathis finished the same way, with six points in his last game in front of the hometown crowd. The Lobos built a 41-29 lead by halftime thanks to the shooting of Vance Jackson and Keith McGee. Jackson had ten first-half points and 12 for the game.
McGee scored 11 points in the win. The Lobos came out with low energy in the second half and Boise State took advantage. Justinian Jessup caught fire in the game to help his team get a late lead. Jessup finished the game with 23 points.
Lobo bigs Corey Manigault and Carlton Bragg kept the Lobos afloat. Manigault finished with a Lobo high of 19 points. Bragg had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. The win helped the Lobos improve to 13-16 overall and 7-10 in the Mountain West. The Broncos dropped to 11-19 overall and 6-11 in league play.
The Lobos will play at Wyoming to end the season. They are still playing for seeding in next week’s Mountain West Tournament and the Lobos could end up as high as a six seed.
