Anyone competing in sports will tell you that winning is fun. Mike Bradbury and his Lobo women’s basketball team are experiencing a lot of that fun.
On a five-game win streak, the 17-2 Lobos are hoping to push that to six consecutive wins Saturday when they host Fresno State. The Lobos currently sit on top of the Mountain West with a 7-1 league record.
Fresno and Boise State, the next two teams nipping at their heels at a game back each. In some regard, you could say the Lobos have exceeded expectations, not with coach Bradbury.
“I don’t know if I expected it, but I thought it could happen,” said Bradbury. “We have spent a lot of time and it’s been well rehearsed of team chemistry. I think that has helped and definitely our talent level has helped as well.”
The Lobos are getting closer to cracking the AP Top 25 poll and could find themselves in with a win Saturday. Bradbury credits depth for the team’s success and it sounds like the team will be deeper next season.
“You will be shocked this spring,” said Bradbury. “I am still in a little bit of shock about it, so hopefully, in the next few months we will be able to get that out to you.”
The Lobos and Fresno State have a 2 p.m. start time at Dreamstyle Arena Saturday.
