Lobo women’s basketball rolls San Diego State

The University of New Mexico Lobo women’s basketball team flirted with blowing a 19 point lead against San Diego State Wednesday night but held on for a 70-62 win.

Aisia Robertson led the way for the Lobos behind 19 points, 5 assists, 5 steals and 8 rebounds. Four Lobos scored in double figures. Jaisa Nunn was one rebound away from a double-double as she scored 14 points and pulled down 9 boards.

Jayla Everett added 13 points while Madi Washington continued her hot shooting from the three-point line. She finished with 12 points. The Lobos led 42-26 at halftime, but the Aztecs made a furious rally starting in the third quarter.

Naje Murray led the Aztecs with 17 points as the visitors would come all the way back and tie the game at 62 points each in the fourth quarter. The Lobos went into a 2-3 zone in the closing minutes and the Aztecs never scored again.

Defensively, the Lobos, one of the top teams in college basketball in blocks, added 11 more to their total. With the win, the Lobos improved to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain West.

They will play at Wyoming on Saturday.
