Lobo women’s basketball blows past Sacramento State 85-53 for 8th straight win

Local Sports

It was supposed to be a matchup of two high powered offenses. It started out that way before New Mexico was able to pull away from Sacramento State in the second half and win 85-53.

Jayla Everett led the way for the Lobo women with 18 points. Aisia Robertson scored 16 points for the Lobos.

She also had 9 assists, pulled down 6 rebounds and had 2 steals. Jaisa Nunn was the only other Lobo to score in double figures with 10 points and 9 rebounds, missing a double-double by only one. Hannah Friend led Sacramento State with 14 points.

The win gave the Lobos an 8th straight win and a 9-1 overall record. The win also put the Lobos in the Lobo Invitational championship game against Stephen F. Austin Thursday night.

The final game will have a 7 p.m. start time at Dreamstyle Arena.
