Lobo men’s basketball bounced back from a tough loss to Nevada on Saturday with a 92-60 victory over San Jose State inside of Dream Style Arena. The Spartans have yet to beat a team in conference team, so a win was a must on Wednesday night for the Lobos.
“This is really a build-up to Saturday. I just talked to the guys about that now in the locker room, talking about Fresno right now. If we can build and takes some things from this, that is going to help us on Saturday. This would have been a good game for us, but if we are not able to take this forward, then it was just one isolated independent game”, said UNM head basketball coach Paul Weir.
UNM started a little sluggish in this one, but finished strong and had a balanced game. Four scorers finished in the double figures for UNM, with Keith McGee leading the pack with a career high of 20 points. The Lobos are now 11-13 overall and 5-7 in MW Conference play. They will host Fresno State Next, a team that beat them earlier in the year 82-70, that game will be on Saturday at 5 p.m. inside of Dream Style Arena.
