Lobo Baseball loses in season opener with Oregon State, 6-5

Local Sports

The UNM baseball team led for most of their season opener with the reigning national champs, No. 8 Oregon State, on Friday afternoon in Suprise, Arizona, but a 3 run 9th inning from the Beavers would seal the 6-5 victory.

UNM held the Beavers scoreless for the first 6 innings and also looked great at the plate, as Jared Mang hit a 2-run homerun. UNM led 5-3 going into the bottom of the 9th, but their bullpen would be unable to seal the victory.

UNM will play Oregon State one more time in the Surprise Tournament, but first they will meet Minnesota on Saturday at 5 p.m.
