Lobo baseball falls short at Texas Tech

They gave it a good shot. Ray Birmingham and his Lobo baseball team tried to make it two straight wins over Texas Tech. Unlike the prior game between the two, this one was in Lubbock where the Red Raiders protected their home turf to win 6-4 on Tuesday night.

Texas Tech jumped out front in the game as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lobos answered with three runs in the top of the second. Derek Marshall Jr. started the Lobos off by driving in a pair of runs.The Lobos added a run in the third inning when Tanner Baker singled up the middle to bring in a run. The Lobos held a 4-2 lead until the 5th inning.

The only scoring after that was all Red Raiders as they scored two runs in the 7th inning for the 6-4 win. With the victory, Texas Tech improved to 26-13. The Lobos dropped to 18-22 and will resume Mountain West Conference play Friday on the road when they take on Fresno State.
