Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman didn’t waste any time helping out the community once he returned for a holiday visit to Albuquerque. Bregman spent the morning at UNM Children’s Hospital and by midday he was taking pies to fire stations in the metro area.
There is a story behind it.
“Since I was 18 months old my mom has been baking pies and delivering them to fire stations around Albuquerque because she locked me in her car and called the fire station close to our house,” said Bregman. “They came and saved me while she was freaking out, a new mother. So yeah, it’s been tradition. I decided to tag along this year and kind of join her tradition.”
KRQE Sports caught up with Bregman at Fire Station 16 where he was our guest in the Sports Office, this time on location. Bregman talked about his fame, his team, career and a special project he has with his little brother and University of New Mexico Lobos pitcher, AJ. The event will be in January. Little brother will try to strike out big brother on the diamond.
