Girls Basketball: Los Lunas becomes two-time champ

Los Lunas is a champion again in girls basketball. The Tigers defeated Kirtland Central 49-43 Friday night to win the Class 4A championship. Los Lunas won a championship last season as a 5A school. Mia Guest scored 15 points to lead the Tigers to victory. The Class 3A Championship was decided between Santa Fe Indian School and the Robertson Cardinals.

The Lady Cardinals won the game 62-46. Alianza Darley scored 27 points in the victory. A packed house witness a Class 2A championship game that needed overtime to determine a winner. Pecos edged Mescalero Apache 53-46.

The game had an exciting finish in regulation as Pearl Pike scored for Mescalero as the clock expired. That tied the game at 38 and forced overtime. Once in the overtime period, Pecos took over. Brittney Martinez scored 23 points in the win. Trinity Herrera was the only other Lady Tiger to finish in double figures with 14 points.
