Former Lobo Devon Williams is back in Albuquerque after playing basketball professionally overseas. Williams says he is 100 percent healthy and is ready to start a new chapter of his career playing with the Albuquerque Bullsnakes in their inaugural season.
“This is home now. Ever since I came here from Dallas I have just gotten a lot of love and a lot of support from this community, so I just want to give back,” said Williams.
Playing with this new semi-pro team will be a good chance for Devon to give back to the community, but also hone his skills. He believes that playing in this league could open other doors to maybe playing overseas again, or even a shot at the NBA G-League.
Williams is fresh off of his first season of playing pro basketball overseas, and he learned a lot while playing with Umea, Sweden, but playing in a foreign country does have its challenges.
“It was kind of hard being out there, especially during the winter. It got dark at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, it was like 20 degrees and started snowing. So every time I walked out of my apartment, I would almost fall and bust my head. So it was one of those things, but no it was definitely a great experience and I am definitely glad that I went,” said Williams.
The Bullsnakes will tip off their first season in November.
