Route 66 Casino Hotel is playing host to another boxing card on Saturday. Route To Glory 2 “Bad Blood,” will feature seven professional fights on Saturday night starting at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m.
The main event will be for the New Mexico State Welterweight Title and the match up will be between Josh “Pitbull” Torres and Cristian “El Puma” Cabral. Both fighters made weight on Friday and both are hungry to come out with a belt wrapped around their waist, but the co-main event is also expected to be a battle.
It will be “Mad” Mike Alderete vs “Mad” Max Heyman in the co-main event, and these guys do not like each other at all.
“If I see him when I am 90 years old and I am in my wheel chair, I see him across the street in his wheel chair, I am taking my wheel chair and i am ramming him, and the feeling is mutual. We just don’t like each other,” said Max Heyward.
Both fighters are nearing 40 years of age, and came out of retirement for this fight. It will be the third meeting between these two, with the series tied at one win a piece coming into Saturday.
It will be a 10 round championship fight, as the New Mexico State Cruiserweight Belt is on the line, and Alderete feels that his stamina will be the determining factor for this fight.
“The last two times I wasn’t as in good of shape as I am now, and that’s what I am going to have over the edge is I am in shape and I can use my skills, and he is going to see something he hasn’t seen in the past two fights,” said Mike Alderete.
