Albuquerque Bullsnakes plan to hoop in the Duke City in 2019

Local Sports

The Albuquerque Bullsnakes is an expansion team out of the semi pro league of the American Basketball Association based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team plans to start their first season in the Duke City in 2019. The Bullsnakes will compete in the far west division of the league.

Owner Nick Lourenco is working on the business end of the new club and hopes to have a coach sometime in October. He also would like to hold player tryouts shortly after. Lourenco wants the team to have a strong local flavor. “We have several interest from players from out of state where coaches who want to coach the team are out of state,” said Lourenco.

“We want local talent. We are looking for people that live in Albuquerque, that have the best interest in Albuquerque.” Lourenco is currently negotiating with a pair of venues to provide a home for the new club. The ABA season starts in November and runs through April.
