Austin House has dreams of returning home next baseball season

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Austin House had the pleasure of playing professional baseball in front of friends and family last season.

The La Cueva grad and former Lobo was called up from double-A Hartford to the Albuquerque Isotopes during the regular season in 2016.

“I was so grateful for that and there is not that many people who can say that they played here,” said House.

KRQE Sports caught up with House in Albuquerque while he was attending a fundraiser to help his former college coach Ray Birmingham and the Lobos baseball program. House said he missed a New Mexico staple, green chile.

House spent a short time with the triple A Albuquerque Isotopes. He pitched a little over 16 innings with a 2-1 record before being sent back down to double-A Hartford where he stayed until season’s end.

House says he needs to work on being more consistent. That might be enough to get him a one way to back to Albuquerque.

“All you can do is keep your head down and go to work,” said House. “Like I said, I am hopeful to be in Albuquerque. If it works it works, If not keep working and try to get here as quick as I can. Obviously, Albuquerque’s the goal but, the big league’s is the ultimate goal.”
