ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Amber Brown did not wake up one day and decide to do combat sports.
“I actually just started training as a way to get in shape after I had my daughter in 2008,” said Brown. The MMA fighter soon decided to give boxing a try.
“I went 4 and 0 in amateur boxing and then decided to turn pro,” said Brown. “I lost my pro debut. Maybe two weeks later we decided to give MMA a shot.”
It turns out it was a good decision. Brown is currently ranked 4th among Invicta Atomweights. She has a 5 and 1 record and is hoping to be fighting for a title soon after a victorious showing at Invicta FC 13.
When talking about her latest win Brown acknowledged that it brought her some recognition. She said, “I feel like that win took me to the next level.”
