The Diaz family bought Monroe’s in 1976, the restaurant had been in that location for a year. The massive heart, pierced with an arrow, perfectly representing Albuquerque’s love for the food they serve. But on Tuesday, the sign came down. Owners recently moved locations, to 4th and Mountain. 2020 is upon us, but some families took the opportunity to celebrate well before bedtime. Explora was one of the places around town, offering Noon Years Eve, 12 hours early. Mayor Keller was there to help drop 2,020 balloons in honor of the new year. (Dec. 31)
Albuquerque City Councilor Ken Sanchez passed away on Jan. 1. Sanchez served on the council for 14 years, primarily serving parts of the westside. Sanchez experienced a medical emergency back in November put passed on New Year’s Day.
