HAGERMAN, N.M. (KRQE) – The southeastern New Mexico town of Hagerman held a election for three school board seats, but nobody showed up to vote. The Roswell Daily Record reports officials are now trying to figure out what’s next. The Chaves County clerk said three candidates needed at least one vote.
There are 1,200 residents there but apparently none felt the need to head to the polls that day. Hagerman Schools Superintendent Ricky Williams said he’d prefer to have the three candidates declared winners since none were challenged. The school board will consider the matter during its next meeting, February 23.
