Bio: Michelle Lujan Grisham running for 2018 Governor


Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham was born in Los Alamos in 1959 and grew up in Santa Fe.

The daughter of a dentist, Lujan Grisham graduated from St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe.

After earning a bachelors degree and law degree from the University of New Mexico, she was named the director of the State Bar of New Mexico's Lawyer Referral for the Elderly Program. She served as the director for 14 years. 

In 2004 she was appointed Secretary of the Department of Health. She was also elected to the Bernalillo County Commission in 2010 and served for two years before winning a seat in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District in 2012.
